The Category Manager Content and Freelancer develops sourcing strategies for procurement projects within the responsible categories and supports the successful implementation in order to derive significant group-wide cost reduction, optimization and synergy potential. Development and supporting the execution of category strategies in a cross-functional team approach and a corresponding supplier management complement the responsibilities of this role. In addition to commercial negotiations, the Category Manager is responsible for drafting and negotiating supplier contracts. This role includes carrying out procurement analytics e.g. market research, price developments, cost breakdowns and other.
Your responsibilities
- Develop and support execution of strategic sourcing strategies for Content and Freelancer categories to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality
- Oversee relationships with Content and Freelancer vendors across the group, negotiating contracts, managing performance, and ensuring compliance with terms and conditions
- Take ownership of the category, including understanding of market trends, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and optimizing supplier relationships
- Support the implementation of cost-saving initiatives such as bulk purchasing, contract renegotiation, and vendor consolidation to maximize efficiency and minimize expenses
- Assess and mitigate risks associated with Content and Freelancer, regulatory compliance and supplier reliability, product quality, cybersecurity
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as BA Publishing, BA Audio, finance, and senior management to understand their needs and align category strategies accordingly
- Draft, review, and manage contracts and agreements with vendors, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and protecting the organization's interests
- Establish KPIs and metrics to evaluate the performance of Content and Freelancer vendors and monitor the effectiveness of procurement strategies
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends in the respective industry, evaluating potential opportunities to improve efficiency and drive innovation through procurement
- Identify areas for process optimization and improvement within the respective procurement function, implementing best practices and driving efficiency gains over time
- Completed bachelor's or master's degree in business administration, economics or comparable degrees
- At least 7 years of professional experience in purchasing, strategic procurement, supply chain management or comparable areas in international organizations
- Strong leadership skills to guide and inspire the category teams without disciplinary responsibility, set a vision and drive strategic initiatives within the area of responsibility
- Solid knowledge in Media domain and contract structures
- Strong negotiation skills to secure advantageous agreements while maintaining positive supplier relationships
- Capability to analyze complex data, market trends and vendor performance involving evaluating cost-saving opportunities, assessing risks, and identifying areas for improvement to drive strategic outcomes
- A strategic mindset for developing long-term procurement strategies
- Strong communication skills at different levels and with different cultures
- The ability to influence others positively and articulate complex ideas in a clear manner
- Teamworker with hands on mentality
- Business fluent English
- Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills
