For our Global Research and Development department (GRD), we are looking for a Research Scientist (f/m/d). The position is based in Leimen, near Heidelberg, Germany, and reports to the position Team Leader Scientific Coordination.
In the dynamic field of cementitious materials and concrete technology, our focus is on advancing research and development through a multidisciplinary approach. By collaborating with universities and industry partners, we ensure timely project delivery while fostering key competencies in cement development and durability assessment.
YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE
Monitor research progress in cementitious materials and concrete technology
Manage and support multidisciplinary R&D projects, focusing on the development of innovative binder systems and technologies; analyse data to identify new technology and product ideas and improvements
Initiate, conduct, and coordinate internal projects and in collaboration with universities and industrial partners ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project goals
Develop key competencies and foundational technologies for cement development, concrete applications, durability assessment, and new testing methods
Identify new opportunities and translate them into viable R&D project proposals and product developments
Support group-wide knowledge management in cement chemistry and mineralogy
Train Heidelberg Materials staff in cement chemistry and mineralogy
Document all phases of research and development, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation; prepare and present detailed reports on project progress, findings, and outcomes to higher management
Conduct special projects and assignments as per Heidelberg Materials' work plan or management requests
Develop patents for special, innovative binders and support patent activities as required by R&D management; mentor and coach less experienced employees, trainees, and students
YOUR PROFILE
University degree in chemistry, mineralogy, material science or equivalent
At least 4 years of professional experience in research & development or production of building materials
Demonstrated above-average creativity, curiosity, and flexibility to handle challenging scientific tasks
Work experience in a foreign country as well as established network in European universities is an advantage
Strong entrepreneurial thinking and action
High social competence, excellent team spirit, and intercultural understanding
Sound project management skills (IPMA Level D) and demonstrated project experience
Strong experience in scientific writing and publishing
Very good English and good German skills, additional language skills are an advantage
Willingness to travel abroad
