Job Description
With our strong brands GMX, WEB.DE and mail.com and over 43 million active users, we are the leading email and communications platform in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. From this strong market position, services and apps are developed that simplify users' digital lives - from office tools and cloud solutions to personal ID management.
Your Tasks
Would you like to support us as a `Senior System Engineer (f/m/d)' for our Mail Storage Team and are you very familiar with Ceph? Would you find it exciting to help shape the storage backend of Europe's largest email provider? Are you interested in contributing to the development of our next-generation mail storage, ensuring reliability, scalability and innovation? Then you've come to the right place! Our multi-petabyte storage infrastructure has over 43 million active users and processes several thousand emails every second.
- Work closely with the teams in our internal development and product management department. Together you will define the requirements that support our strategic goals
- Help develop our next-generation mailstore. Design it so that it can meet future requirements efficiently and flexibly
- Oversee capacity management and ensure that our storage infrastructure is adapted to customer growth and new product offerings
- Support the coordination and resolution of incidents
- Contribute to solving the causes of failures and problems in the long term
Your Profile
Have you gained relevant experience as a `System Engineer (f/m/d)' in large, highly available Linux environments? Do you love automation and are you fascinated by large storage systems with rotating metal and SSDs? Then we look forward to receiving your application! We are particularly interested in the following:
- You have in-depth experience with Ceph, including troubleshooting
- You are comfortable with bare-metal hardware as well as running applications in our on-prem Kubernetes platform, which is operated by our infrastructure team
- You are familiar with protocols other than HTTP and you are also familiar with ZFS
- You are familiar with automation and configuration management, know tools such as Puppet and Ansible and understand the principles of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)
- You have practical experience with OpenMetrics-based monitoring (Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, Grafana) and can therefore not only plan resource requirements in advance, but also analyse and resolve problems. And if all else fails, you won't shy away from grep, sed and awk.
Our Benefits
- Our corporate culture: „You“ culture and no dress code, flat hierarchies, open and transparent communication
- Individual development opportunities: diverse training courses, e-learning and internal communities, language courses, mentoring
- Events: Slack Days, open source projects, meet-ups
- Relocation service: support with the relocation to Germany
- Benefits and additional services: company pension scheme, capital-forming benefits, discounts on own products, job ticket, bike leasing, corporate benefits portal
- Attractive working conditions: 30 days holiday, hybrid working, full-time and part-time arrangements, free choice between Linux, Mac or Windows
- Social: team events, summer and winter parties, family and care service, sports and fitness programmes, subsidised canteen, free fruit and drinks, health courses
- Topics that are also important to us: Sustainability, diversity and our values and leadership principles - find out more on our website mail-and-media.com
