Position Description

Our Life Science sales teams work with a variety of customers to facilitate a customer-centric service and provide them with Sample to Insight solutions. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Strategic Account Manager to focus on sales and market development with our ‘industrial' accounts: Biotech, Biopharma, CRO, CDMO.

The Strategic Account Manager will play a key role in shaping and aligning customer requirements with the ideal QIAGEN solutions. The successful applicant will be able to position QIAGEN workflow solutions using a consultative sales approach and have a current network within the DACH market.

Key responsibilities:

- Working with the local account team to achieve budget and goals within the DACH territory. This activity will require a high level of business development experience, including the implementation of strategic business plans at higher levels within organisations.

- Clearly identify and interpret market needs, shaping and aligning customer requirements to the capabilities of QIAGEN and work with the team to position our solutions effectively.

- Enable the team to support customers throughout the product lifecycle and provide customer demonstrations and training when needed. Ensure support of all procurement processes, including negotiating contracts, and accelerating the closing process with end users and purchasing departments.

- Effective weekly and monthly planning of sales activities, providing accurate sales forecasts to the sales manager via regular forecast calls and contemporaneous logging in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.

- Maintain and expand Life Sciences market knowledge including life science technology trends, commercial awareness of competitors, and latest scientific findings.

Position Requirements

- Minimum Bachelor of Science, PhD or equivalent laboratory experience advantageous. Strong background in Life Sciences and a well-developed technical aptitude in modern molecular procedures including DNA/RNA purification, PCR, Next Generation Sequencing, digital PCR. Knowledge of QIAGEN products preferred.

- Relevant sales experience essential, with a demonstrable understanding of business practice in the Life Science industry and knowledge of relevant markets. Ideally with established contacts within the biotech/ biopharma/ CRO market.

- Experience in the handling of complex sales, selling capital equipment and proven experience of selling techniques to drive closing sales. Experience of creating and executing strategic business plans in a proactive manner without considerable direction to accomplish the planned goals.

- Must have experience of working well under pressure, prioritising according to the needs of your customers, territory and overall business, with the ability to accommodate urgent tasks where required. Provides “solutions, not problems” in response to dealing with complex situations.

- Located within Germany or Austria with willingness and availability to travel across the DACH region up to 70% of the time.
