Head (f/m/d) of HR Operations

What you will do:

In the role you will lead different HR relevant projects like the review of the strategy for HR People Services / Operations (including strategies for Service Management, Payroll, Data Management, etc.) or participate in initiatives to improve employee experience. You will manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders as well as the provision of developmental activities for your team members. As Head of HR Operations you are responsible for leading our HR teams Payroll, HR Delivery Services and HR Business Support and HR IT. You will plan, support and governance processes that enable effective service delivery planning activities. You should empower your HR leadership team in promoting a commercially-minded, customer-focused, efficient, cost effective and compliant HR function.

As Head of HR Operations you will support the Head of HR in managing risk in HR and people risk management in the bank. Further on, you will represent HR in respective cross–functional meetings.


  • Deploying scalable and repeatable HR products and the long term interests of HSBC
  • Ensuring global consistency and quality of HR products and services
  • Ensure accurate and timely management of end to end payroll processing
  • Ensure all regulatory and legislative requirements and correspondences are managed timely and accurately
  • Management of people administration activities and local Executive and Regulatory Reporting
  • Shape and develop the team and its processes towards an employee experience oriented approach and set up
  • Management of data operations activities in local and global HR systems

  • A degree in Business Management or equivalent and relevant HR experiences; including a familiarity with HSBC policies, processes, and compliance
  • Strong leadership skills, experience in managing sizeable team of professionals as well as the ability to influence senior stakeholders and strong relationship management skills
  • Be able to identify problems quickly and have foresight into potential issues
  • Experience in steering and coordinating cross functional or international projects
  • Flexibility, tenacity and resilience to deal with business demands during periods of high workload
  • Knowledge of local labour law and relevant regulation is an advantage, e.g. GDPR
  • Business fluency in German and English
