Job Description

The Single Resolution Board (SRB) is the central resolution authority of the European Union (EU) within the Banking Union. Together with the National Resolution Authorities of participating Member States, it forms the Single Resolution Mechanism. Collaborating with various EU institutions, the SRB contributes to safeguarding financial stability. Its mission is to ensure an orderly resolution of failing banks with minimum impact on the real economy and on public finances of the participating Member States and beyond. The SRB also manages the Single Resolution Fund to ensure availability of medium-term funding support while a bank is being restructuring and/or resolved. It is a self-financed EU agency.


The SRB is looking to establish a reserve list of Temporary Agents for the role of ICT Development Expert. The successful candidate(s) would contribute to ensuring the necessary development support to the SRB's Information Systems, under the direction of the Head of ICT and the Portfolio Manager.

Key Tasks:

  • Work with IT developers, IT operations, IT security and functional analysts to design applications (front-end and backend) and scripts;
  • Work with functional analysts on specifications;
  • Produce clean and efficient code based on specifications while respecting the Architecture guidelines;
  • Integrate software components and third-party programs into existing systems, ensuring compatibility and performance;
  • Verify the functionality of programs and systems and manage their deployment in various environments;
  • Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing software to improve its performance, stability and scalability;
  • Gather, evaluate and integrate user feedback to improve software functionality and user experience;
  • Recommend and execute ICT improvements;
  • Design scalable solutions while maintaining high security measures and continuously optimise application performance;
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for reference, reporting and future development;
  • Perform unit testing of the code;
  • Carry out any other tasks requested by line management in the interest of the service.

To be eligible, you will need to fulfil the following eligibility criteria by the deadline for applications:

  • Be a national of a Member State of the European Union and enjoy full rights as citizen;
  • Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by national laws concerning military service;
  • Meet the character requirements for the duties involved;
  • Be physically fit to perform the duties;
  • Possess a level of education which corresponds to completed university studies in the area of Computer/Telecom Engineering of at least three years attested by a diploma;
  • Have at least 3 years of professional experience acquired after obtaining the relevant university diploma, in a field relevant to this role;
  • Have an excellent command of spoken and written English and a satisfactory knowledge of another official EU language.

In addition, the following experience and competencies are required:

  • Suitability to perform the key tasks for this role;
  • At least 2 years of professional experience as a Software Developer or Software Engineer or in a similar role;
  • Recent, hands-on experience with software design and development in a test-driven environment;
  • Proven experience in coding in Java 11+;
  • Proven experience in working with Java frameworks/systems (Spring, Spring Boot, Spring Data and Spring Security);
  • Proven experience with front-end development, particularly using frameworks like TypeScript and Angular 10+;
  • Proven experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery practices and tools such as Maven and Bamboo;
  • Proven experience with interoperability technologies, including web services and REST APIs;
  • Proven experience with Oauth 2.0 and Security concepts, including security tokens, integrity and confidentiality;
  • Proven experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes;
  • Proven experience in working with microservices architecture, including design, security and interoperability.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively;
  • Very good organisational skills;
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and speed while working under pressure;
  • Good team spirit and team work in an international/ multicultural environment;
  • Good communication skills.

It is advantageous to have the following competencies:

  • Experience with Domain-Driven Design principles and practices;
  • Experience using Clean Architecture (also known as Ports and Adaptors);
  • Experience in database development, including design and optimisations;
  • Experience with R or Python;
  • Experience with coding in .NET or MS SharePoint;
  • Certification in Agile development methodology.

  • Engaging work in a multi-cultural environment in Brussels, contributing to robust IT systems in an Agency of the European Union;
  • Upon successful application, placement on a reserve list (valid until 31/12/2025) for a potential 3-years contract (renewable) with a competitive monthly salary of either €6 418.36 (Step 1) or
    €6 688.09 (Step 2), according to the length of your professional experience; salary is subject to community tax but exempt from national tax;
