As a Network Architect, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise network and security solutions across the organization. You will be responsible for shaping the network infrastructure and ensuring seamless operation, while also leading projects and providing technical expertise to both internal teams and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
General Tasks:

  • Assist in budget planning for network and security initiatives.
  • Develop enterprise solutions in the areas of Network & Security.
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd level support as needed.
  • Act as a key point of contact for local teams and stakeholders.
  • Architecture & Design:
  • Develop and maintain group-wide network architecture models and design solutions tailored to business needs.
  • Lead the technical planning and execution of complex enterprise implementations.
  • Conduct architectural process and workflow analyses to ensure efficiency and scalability.
  • Prepare and present make-or-buy decisions for various technical solutions.
  • Analyze the business impact of technical decisions and identify opportunities to improve processes.
  • Identify and present new trends and technologies that can enhance business operations.
  • Continuously develop and document the IT development plan, covering all architecture components such as infrastructure, software, cloud solutions, and interfaces.
  • Design and develop IT solutions that solve specific business problems, both internally and externally.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify savings and optimization opportunities.
  • Consultation:
  • Provide technical consultation to internal IT teams, supporting business decisions from an IT perspective.
  • Advise project teams on the implementation of network and security projects.
  • Offer expert guidance to customers on selecting and implementing innovative technical solutions.
  • Strategy Development:
  • Support the conceptual design and development of a group-wide network & security strategy aligned with OneIT objectives.
  • Collaborate on the overall IT strategy to ensure seamless integration of network and security solutions.
  • Project & Change Management:
  • Independently manage projects, ensuring adherence to cost, quality, and timelines, while documenting lessons learned.
  • Take on sub-project management roles and provide consulting expertise as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with service management tools and the change management process.
  • Operations & Service Management:
  • Oversee the administration of the group-wide IT security portfolio.
  • Lead the implementation, commissioning, and maintenance of network and security solutions.
  • Configure complex infrastructures to ensure optimal performance.
  • Provide technical advice to specialist departments on network and security issues.
  • Evaluate and select products and service providers in a cost- and performance-conscious manner.
  • Manage external service providers within the scope of service and escalation management.
  • Identify and implement savings and optimization opportunities in the network and security domain.
  • Lead maintenance activities and provide 2nd and 3rd level support.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors for problem analysis and escalation management.
  • Plan, implement, and monitor system updates (including upgrades, changes, and configurations).
  • Ensure comprehensive and up-to-date documentation, including instructions and manuals for all locations.
  • Evaluate and integrate new technologies to optimize the network infrastructure.
  • Maintain the sustainable operation of the group-wide network infrastructure.
  • Participate in the operational control room as required.
  • Service Ownership:
  • take responsibility for service ownership of multiple, often complex, services within the network and security domain.

  • A degree in Computer Science or a comparable qualification in the IT field.
  • Seven years of experience in network engineering and security, with a proven track record in designing and implementing IT solutions.
    Mandatory Skills:
  • Project Management: Experience managing projects, including planning, implementation, and completion.
  • IT Solutions Design: Expertise in designing network and IT solutions.
  • Firewall Expertise: In-depth knowledge of firewall technologies and configurations.
  • Network-as-a-Service: Familiarity with NaaS solutions.
  • Technical Engineering: Ability to analyze user requirements and translate them into product specifications.
    • Design of system architectures and interface descriptions.
    • Creation of migration and test plans, along with maintenance concepts.
    • Performance evaluation and tuning.
    • Knowledge of Switching/Routing (OSPF, WAN, LAN, WLAN, etc.).
    • Experience with DMZ services and network monitoring.
    • Expertise in IPv4, IPv6, DHCP, DNS, and other networking protocols.
    • Manufacturer-specific knowledge of Fortinet, Extreme Networks, and Cisco
