Established in 2010, Epsilon Group is a leading industrial conglomerate driving the global carbon black and battery materials industry with a vision to decarbonize economies and support cleaner technologies. Epsilon Carbon operates India's first fully integrated carbon facility in Bellary, Karnataka, specializing in carbon black and specialized carbon derivatives with an annual capacity of 115,000 metric tons and 320,000 TPA, respectively, and poised for expansion with its Carbon Black phase-2 facility. Meanwhile, Epsilon Advanced Materials Pvt. Ltd. established in 2018, is dedicated to sustainable and high-performance anode & cathode battery materials, pioneering India's first graphite anode material plant and making strategic global investments, including in North Carolina and Finland. With a recent foray into lithium-ion phosphate (LFP) based Cathode Active Material business, all aimed at supporting the global battery industry and contributing to sustainable development, truly exemplifying its motto to Energize the World.


We are looking for an HR generalist to be based at our Mossberg site. The incumbent should have knowledge of the chemical collective agreement and specialization in payroll accounting, year-end closing activities in the personnel area, provisions and accruals.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Payroll accounting and payroll accounting
    • Carrying out monthly payroll accounting in compliance with all relevant legal and collective bargaining provisions in cooperation with our service provider
    • Administration of personnel master data and maintenance of the time recording system
    • Contact person for employee inquiries regarding payroll accounting, social insurance and taxes.
  2. Year-end closing activities in the personnel area
    • Preparation and implementation of annual financial statements in human resources.
    • Creation and management of provisions and accruals as part of the annual financial statements.
    • Cooperation with the finance department to ensure that personnel expenses are recorded correctly in the accounts.
  3. Knowledge of the collective agreement for the chemical industry
    • Application and interpretation of the collective agreement for the chemical industry in payroll accounting and other HR processes.
    • Support in negotiations with works councils and trade unions regarding collective agreements and works agreements.
    • Individual agreements – Understand the German Contracts and detail out the complete entitlements for each employees including current Bonus system.
    • Employer's association - Request for membership / change of membership to the employers' association
  4. Personnel administration and support
    • Management of employment contracts, contract amendments and other personnelrelated documents.
    • Support in the recruitment and onboarding of new employees.
    • Support and advice for employees in all personnel-related matters.
    • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, pension plans, and other perks.
    • Support employee relations activities, including conflict resolution, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
    • Care insurance – understand Care Insurance (additional insurance taken as per works contract) and manage the process involved for insurance. Also, to look into future enrollments, deletions and renewals.
    • Ruhegeld scheme – understand the calculations of an old pension scheme (Ruhegeldordnung) and keep records. Also, to look into future enrollments
    • Fund for Retirement Pensions – Understand the Registration process to National Insolvency Fund for Retirement Pensions (mutual employers' fund; separate from above safeguarding) and look into new employee enrollments.
    • Maintaining company car registration if any.
    • Management of lifetime work accounts:
      1. Management of accounts - Set-up of how those lifetime work accounts will be managed and dealt with on a regular basis.
      2. Service agreement with HPBS and R+V - Adaptation of or entering into a new service contract with HPBS and R+V 5.
  5. Employee development and promotion
    • Coordinate employee training and development initiatives to enhance skills and competencies.
    • Support in the implementation and monitoring of development plans for employees.
  6. Compliance and data management
    • Ensure 100% governance around HR data protection.
    • Ensuring compliance with all relevant labor laws and regulations.
    • Ensuring data protection and the confidentiality of employee information.
    • Maintenance and administration of personnel files and HR databases.
  7. Cooperation and communication
    • Close cooperation with other departments, especially the finance department, to harmonize processes.
    • Communication with external service providers and authorities.

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management or related field.
  • 5 – 8 years' experience as an HR Generalist or similar role in Germany.
  • Proven ability to navigate Works Council dynamics, manage employee payroll, oversee timekeeping systems, and administer employee benefit programs.
  • Thorough understanding of German labor laws and regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and HRIS software.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken German and English.
