Job Description

Medical Coordinator for Maison L'Escale and CASOs (Reception, Care, and Orientation Center)

Doctors of the World Luxembourg is an organization that provides medical care to the most vulnerable, excluded populations in Luxembourg, and engages in emergency missions internationally. In collaboration with and under the authority of the Medical Director and the General Director, the Medical Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the coordination of care projects at Maison Escale in Esch-sur-Alzette, a facility for vulnerable individuals with health issues incompatible with street living, and participates in coordinating frontline consultations at the CASOs in Esch and Bonnevoie.

Main Activities

Maison L'Escale

In collaboration with the Emile Mayrisch Hospital (CHEM) and the Ministry of Health.

Operational Aspects:

  • Ensures the project's alignment with the association's strategy;
  • Analyzes admission requests from a medical perspective and ensures their completeness;
  • Participates in the weekly medico-psycho-social committee (CMPS) meetings with CHEM and MiSa;
  • Attends weekly clinical staff meetings with field teams.

Primary Care Activities:

  • Coordinates and monitors patients' medical care and medical records in collaboration with the volunteer physician;
  • Manages or arranges for the continuation of oral substitution treatments if needed;
  • Meets with patients who have made a request to Escale if necessary, during consultations.

Communication:

  • Communicates the project's operational details to other providers and requesting associations.

CASOs

Operational Aspects:

  • Ensures program compliance with the association's strategy;
  • Participates in meetings with staff and volunteers;
  • Maintains and develops relationships with hospital services and acts as a mediator between care providers and beneficiaries.

Primary Care Activities:

  • Manages patients' medical follow-up and medical records, and handles medical emergencies within the scope of competence;
  • Compiles and writes medical reports as needed (social services, referral to another professional, legal procedures);
  • Supports any project related to their activities and missions.

Prevention:

  • Contributes to the development of intervention strategies: understanding health policies and providing technical medical input.

  • Medical degree with authorization to practice in Luxembourg.
  • Experience in a similar position or with an NGO.
  • Experience in the healthcare sector and access to care is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the Luxembourg associative network is a plus.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken French; knowledge of German and Luxembourgish is a plus. Any additional language skills are appreciated.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
