Our IT Team is looking for YOU!

  • The Lead Network Architect will have full responsibility for the definition & maintenance of the conceptual architecture and strategy for IT Connectivity Services at Uniper
  • Ensure that the future network strategy for Uniper considers industry trends and developments and makes judgement whether subjects can be integrated into Uniper's cloud and mobility strategy
  • Further development of the concepts and strategies into implementable projects aligned with Uniper business needs by defining To-Be and Reference Architectures for Technical Architecture
  • Provision of design governance and steering to projects to ensure that Uniper strategic goals aligned to the programme are met in time, cost and quality
  • For assigned programmes, leading a team of international technical architects from Uniper and third parties as necessary
  • Own and chair relevant steering and governance meetings. These meetings will usually be attended by senior management from Uniper IT or third parties
  • Maintain 24x7 operational support with 3rd parties and partner organisations to support the requirements of a global business. Define SLA and OLA against each product (within ITIL and IT4IT methodologies) and organise successful operations delivery and escalation processes
  • Ensure sustainable programme and projects success through the adherence to architectural frameworks, defined design standards, and quality commitments
  • Ensure sustainable programme and project success through pro-active management of the quality of the high-level designs provided by the service providers
  • Ensure pro-active information flow between the architecture community, project organization and external partners over the respective programme and project status
  • Develop, initiate and project manage group wide infrastructure initiatives with Uniper's service providers to provide the products that Uniper's future business requires to meet strategic goals. Projects to be delivered to budget, time and quality
  • Act in Leadership capacity to establish improved practices within the Uniper IT architecture community, leading others to adopt improvements in quality or efficiency of the role to improve the service provided by IT
  • Keep abreast of developments in the IT industry and research relevant current and future technologies
  • Play a key role in the Estimation of projects scope/size/time and resourcing requirements, leading the estimation/resourcing of the technical team needs on behalf of Project Managers
  • Providing alternative solutions to business requirements with appropriate balance of time/cost/quality/scope of the solution, to establish the most cost-effective solution

Key Skill Requirements:

  • Extensive experience of the strategic development, design and management / implementation of LAN/WAN/WLAN solutions in a complex, cross border environment
  • Hand-on engineering experience with Microsoft Azure network components ranging from Firewalls, VNETs through virtual WAN hub and spoke design and operations
  • Must be hands-on and able to lead a technical team in the E2E design of network solutions as well as troubleshooting of issues in the deployed network
  • Ability to further develop Uniper´s network strategy towards software-defined networks driven by requirements from developments in cloud computing, mobility and IoT
  • Experienced design engineer with MPLS, QoS, VPN, Routing and Switching with interest in SDN and Hybrid network solutions
  • Extensive knowledge in the design of corporate MPLS, SD-WAN and Internet-based networks provided by global carriers including different access networks
  • Experience within a SASE environment with an excellent understanding of Zero Trust Network Access using the Palo Alto Prisma Access toolset
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical details in non-technical terms, to influence senior stakeholders in the solution design, and to facilitate workshops and presentations in a confident manner
  • Considerable team management / leadership experience and a highly developed leadership competence ideally within a complex, technical team management role
  • Extensive experience of managing change in a cross-border situation
  • Highly developed customer and service orientation
  • Advanced analytical and conceptual skills
  • Extensive experience of senior stakeholder management within a change environment
  • Strong initiative and willingness to change
  • Highly developed team orientation, persuasive power and ability to cooperate, including in conflict situations

  • Willing to regularly travel nationally and internationally; this is a key requirement of the role
  • Extensive experience of managing third parties, preferably gained in an outsourced IT environment

Other Skills Desired but Not essential:

  • Architecture (TOGAF9) certified, or actively working towards certification
  • ITIL certification
  • Excellent knowledge of the energy business
  • Cisco Certified Architect or Juniper JNCDS-WAN
