Job Description

The Fraunhofer Society currently operates 74 institutes and research units throughout Germany and is a leading applied research organization. Around 32 000 employees work with an annual research budget of 3.4 billion euros.

Our »Satellite Based Positioning Systems« department focuses on the development of receiver components and systems that utilize Global Navigation Satellite Systems – GNSS, (i.e. GPS, Galileo, and their upcoming improvements for satellite-based localization). Based on these receiver technologies, we develop innovative solutions and support the industry by introducing new products onto the market that secure time and location information in new energy and communication networks, thus promoting the energy turnaround and Germany's pioneering role on the world stage.

Are you fascinated by satellite navigation and the development of embedded system software? Do you want to shape the future of secure GNSS in national and international research projects?

If so, you may want to take a look at what we have to offer!

  • In this engaging position, you will research and develop advanced anti-jamming and anti-spoofing solutions for GNSS systems.
  • Additionally, you will contribute to the design, development, documentation, and delivery of software and firmware for secure GNSS platforms.
  • What's more, you will integrate system and software components into embedded System-on-Chip (SoC) architectures using FPGA and ASIC technologies.

  • A degree in electrical engineering, computer science, robotics, or equivalent education
  • Expertise in embedded software development, including proficiency in C/C++ programming, debugging, testing, and continuous integration
  • Willingness to obtain security clearance and engage in government-authorized projects
  • Preferably: experience with version control systems (e.g., Git), scripting languages (e.g., Python), and hardware description languages (e.g., VHDL / Verilog)
  • Beneficial: Familiarity with GNU/Linux environments, knowledge of cryptography and Common Criteria, and a background in signal processing and radio communications

We are also happy to welcome applications from committed junior professionals with basic knowledge and first practical experience from internships, student research projects or final theses.

Fraunhofer is not only the largest application-oriented research organization in Europe, but also a top-rated employer. How so?
