  • Plan the strategy of the Business Sector in coordination with the overall strategic direction of the Strategic Business Unit and Strategic Marketing as well as identifying external growths opportunities and close deals in cooperation with OPT business development and M&A departments
  • Derive the Business Sector strategy for development of the ZEISS Medical Ecosystem, refractive workflow solutions, products and services depending on customer needs, competitive situation, technological roadmap and budget requirement
  • Drive strategic priorities for the refractive business, such as fulfillment of the ambitious growth ambition, growth in new regions, establish new workflow solutions beyond myopic refractive laser surgery in order to ensure solid long-term IP strategy to drive competitive advantage
  • Continuous monitoring and evaluation of market developments, customer and competitive behavior and identification of profitable market opportunities
  • Develop and communicate a clear strategy, vision and purpose for own area of responsibility and ensure efficient structure and processes
  • Drive close alignment with OPT advanced R&D, regulatory and clinical affairs and operations to ensure the implementation of global consumable and hardware R&D projects for the business sector from feasibility to introduction to the first target market based on the strategic product roadmap


  • University degree in natural sciences or engineering, additional business administration qualification (MBA) preferred
  • At least 8 to 10 years of professional experience in the medical industry including disciplinary management, broad and in-depth commercial knowledge, and planning experience
  • Specialist knowledge of drafting contracts as well as well-founded project management skills
  • Knowledge of global service management and intercultural negotiation skills
  • Proven ability for a high degree of social skills (employee management, network maintenance) and customer orientation
  • Purpose-driven, internally, and externally inspiring leader, with gravitas and accessibility simultaneously
  • Clear communicator, able to translate the values and the business expectations of the organization, ensuring strategy is considered to all MED target groups, including employees and customers globally
  • Can navigate effectively through complexity and can connect effortlessly beyond their function of expertise
