Vice President Corporate Legal & IP (f/m/d)

The Vice President Corporate Legal & IP will serve as a global contact person to the executive board and other relevant stakeholders across the company on all legal matters involving PAUL HARTMANN AG. The person will be responsible for scaling and leading the legal function, including legal-tech, commercial, IP and patent law as well as data protection matters.

The incumbent will be the company's representative in business and trade organizations and the interface towards external law firms and authorities. In addition, the appointee will be a business-oriented individual with a proven ability to balance company goals with legal risk, successfully maintaining ethical standards while helping to move business forward.


  • Responsible for the corporate legal department (including the legal, legal-tech, technical IP, non-technical IP, and data protection teams) and its organization in the most efficient and effective way, e.g., in-/ or outsourcing of services, advisory of the group's subsidiaries on best practices, etc.
  • Partner with the senior leadership team and other internal customers of the legal department across the company to support HARTMANN's success, while ensuring adherence with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Develop and lead the company's corporate and business legal strategy to promote and protect HARTMANN's interests, including providing solutions to complex business problems to enable the company's further success.
  • Oversee the day-to-day legal function, encompassing corporate projects as well as drafting and negotiating (inter)national contracts, agreements and contractual terms.
  • Provide prompt legal advice to HARTMANN's stakeholders and innovators to facilitate, improve and strengthen their own IP and operational decision-making through the integration of legal analysis.
  • Provide counsel, represent, implement and monitor the global governance and regulations and oversee all litigation and negotiation of disputed matters in a way that protects the company's rights and reputation.
  • Lead all lawsuits of PAUL HARTMANN AG and the German group companies (except: labour and tax), plus, track and possibly interfere in lawsuits of foreign group companies.

  • Relevant Training and Post-Qualification Experience: Strong legal experience (at least 10 years), ideally gained through a combination of an international commercial law firm and senior in-house roles. Exposure to a broad range of legal topics, including corporate and contract law, IP, data protection matters and legal knowledge of civil and common law environments.
  • Industry Experience: Experience working in the healthcare sector and excellent networking skills in the healthcare and legal community. In addition, experience in working and communicating with external legal advisors, shareholders, and investors (IR).
  • Education: Completion of first and second state examinations (with above-average examinations); focus on corporate, commercial and labor law or capital markets; an Anglo-Saxon legal background is ideal; an LL.M. is a plus.
  • Language skills: Fluent in German and English (both written and spoken), other foreign languages are of advantage.
