Job Description

At Uniper, we proactively transform the world of energy while ensuring the security of energy supply. As an internationally operating company, we work in very diverse teams with the greatest possible working time flexibility for our employees. Our corporate culture is characterized by equal opportunities, mutual appreciation, and respect. With us, you will be able to develop new business models, work on technological solutions for a modern, sustainable, and future-oriented energy supply, as well as proactively help shape changes. Interested? We look forward to meeting you!

Uniper´s maintenance department at Energy Asset Management (EAM) has established a central process on how to execute maintenance work on site, called PM/WCM (Plant Maintenance and Work Clearance Management). The EAM department has identified variations in the process execution across power stations, and Uniper is interested in identifying the deviations between sites on effective measures (KPI's), activities and recommendations to improve conformance and to prepare the process for the S4 Hana Transformation. Recorded data from SAP can be used to apply existing process mining techniques on checking process conformance and comparing plants with each other.

We would like to offer you a process mining master project on this maintenance process. In a previous project, the PM/WCM process has been analysed in different perspectives of Notifications, Orders Operations and Isolations using data from SAP PGC for various power plants across Germany, the UK and the Netherlands. For these power plants, a end-to-end high-level "as-is" process model was created to easy the transition of all power plants to a single SAP S4 instantiation. In this project, we have two aims:

  • See whether additional power plants fit the as-is process model, and update the model where necessary
  • Analyse the differences between the different power plants and the as-is process model in more detail, using existing and new process comparison techniques
  • Upon analysing the detailed variants in the process, identify a potential harmonised way of working the Maintenance orders to migrate into S4

To apply for this project, you must demonstrably have experience in :

  • Analyzing data with an academic approach and having an IT, Data Science and Data Analytics background

  • Working with Process Mining tools such like ProM or Celonis

  • IT methodologies on how to analyze data and how to turn them into value and insight statements

  • Fundamentals of Business Process Management (BPMN)

  • Track record in Data Science and using Python, R, SQL, PQML and similar

  • In using further applications which support Business Process Intelligence or Advanced Process Mining

  • Preferably, you have done your seminar in the BPM or PADS groups e.g at RWTH Aachen or similar

  • Working Experience in Energy Industry is not a requirement

  • A monthly visit to Unipers headquartes in Düsseldorf or to one of Unipers Power Plan should be foreseen

  • Starting date would be October 2024 or according to arrangement

  • The position is limited to 6 months (with an additional 3 months)

  • Uniper offers a fixed monthly compensation for this master project
