If you are passionate about the environment and keen on leading a European team to elevate the environmental compliance space within Amazon, this role is for you.

The Environmental Assurance and Protection (EAP) team is looking for a motivated, analytical, hands-on, and results-oriented leader to work within its Program Management team.

Reporting into the EU Head of EAP, the Senior Environmental Program Manager will lead EU Launch and Retrofits/Expansions/Initiatives (REI), and other priority programs within EAP. They will work closely with both Globally and EU EAP, Design & Construction, Preconstruction, Launch, Workplace Health and Safety, and Sustainability with additional cross functional relationships with EU Operations, Engineering, and Amazon's central continuous improvement functions.

They will seek to build and improve existing processes and influence tech products to drive environmental compliance through existing Change Management mechanisms, protecting process standardization, and performance management.

This role will also work with a team of technical EAP Global and Regional experts to define and deliver against the EU environmental three-year plan and strategy. They will partner with Finance and Procurement to identify savings opportunities and efficiencies from vendor contracts and services, sharing best practices and to ensure global standard implementation/lessons.

A successful candidate will have an established background in managing programs including budget allocation and tracking, building and scaling processes with cross functional teams, and delivering results in a fast-paced environment.

Successful candidates will be curious, thinking big, highly motivated and effective within distributed teams. Comfortable with ambiguities, conflicting priorities and multi-cultural team.

  • EU EAP owner of the Launch and Retrofits/Expansions/Initiatives (REI) Program, protecting environmental compliance through each life cycle.
  • Define EU EAP standards and documentation to ingrain environmental activities into Launch and REI.
  • Improve integration of EU EAP to EU Launch and REI mechanisms.
  • Build robust reporting mechanisms to track environmental compliance activities to leadership.
  • Define the long-term strategy and end state for collaboration of Amazon with 3P vendors, to achieve the 3Y compliance goals and bridge current gaps;
  • Identify KPIs to manage performance, data quality and cost of Launch and REI
  • Establish mechanisms to control spent and performance, and align yearly targets with Finance;
  • Influence tech teams to develop long term solutions to manage Launch and REI needs from EAP,
  • Create a framework to cover the end to end needs by business type in EU for Launch and REI.
  • Build trust with all stakeholders and partners in the Launch/REI space.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
  • Experience in compliance, audit or risk management
  • A completed Bachelor's Degree in chemistry, chemical or environmental engineering or related field of study.
  • Broad knowledge of EU and EU country specific regulations and programs.
  • Experience leading change in multiple site environments (travel up to 50%) and the ability to influence those that are not direct reports or within your organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with Sr. Managers and Directors
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability

Preferred qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification
  • Experience leveraging technology and implementing lean principles / Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvements or equivalent
  • Master's degree or equivalent
