Your role:

As the Head of Legal DACH Healthcare you provide legal advice and support to mainly healthcare-related commercial and medical functions in local affiliates in Germany as well as support & advice to the three business sectors, country leadership and Group Functions in Austria & Switzerland.

Furthermore you:

  • Act as legal business partner for local business functions & senior management. Actively participate in local leadership teams and represent legal function in meetings and interactions.
  • In case of the German Healthcare business:
    • Interacting closely with other colleagues in the Legal & Compliance organisation team (specially Compliance & Data Privacy) and fostering collaboration across sectors
    • Draft, review, negotiate and provide advice on a broad range of healthcare-related contracts, including a variety of commercial agreements, non-interventional study agreements, investigator-initiated trial-agreements, rebate contracts, reimbursement agreements etc.
    • Represent the Company in legal working groups of German pharmaceutical industry association ‘vfa'
  • In case of Austria & Switzerland:
    • Responsible for all legal matters across the 3 business sectors
    • Interacting closely with other colleagues in the Legal & Compliance organisation team (specially Compliance & Data Privacy)
  • Steer and interact with external counsels, especially in local inter-company complaints and litigations with a focus on advertisement of prescription pharmaceuticals in Germany, Austria & Switzerland
  • Support local market access functions from a legal perspective, inter alia participate in reimbursement negotiations and discussions (as applicable) with local bodies in Germany, with a focus on AMNOG- and social security-laws (e.g. SGB V topics, rebate agreements) as well as in Austria & Switzerland.
  • Support commercial supply- and distribution-related topics for pharmaceuticals from a legal perspective with a focus on antitrust- and drug law-specific topics
  • Proactive identification and management of legal, compliance and data privacy (in these cases in collaboration with the Compliance & Data Privacy teams) risks in the country/subregion together with the relevant global teams as well as claims and litigations
  • Leading ad hoc projects as assigned
  • Development of local teams with focus on talent retention
  • Allocate and ensure tem resource within the country/subregion in alignment with Regional Manager and corresponding organisation function leaders
  • Manage country/subregion budget for legal expend in alignment with Global External Spend project guidance

Who you are:

  • German Legal degree
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the Healthcare or Life Sciences sector or Electronics, preferably in a large law firm or the legal or compliance department of an international Healthcare or Life Sciences or Electronics company
  • Familiarity with multinational corporate compliance and data privacy culture; knowledge in anti-bribery and anti-corruption as well as data privacy laws and regulations
  • Proven track record to lead and develop a team
  • Experience with an international environment and ability to work in different cultures
  • Comfortable working and interacting with all levels of management including senior management
  • Well balanced business counsel
  • Experience in change and process management
  • Open, energetic, self-starter, pragmatic, ability to act under pressure
  • Excellent organizational, collaboration and communication skills
  • Fluent in German; good oral and written English
