50Hertz is one of the four transmission system operators (TSO) in Germany. We transport electricity at extra-high voltage level. The company's approximately 1,600 employees achieve something that until recently seemed impossible: advancing the energy transition at high speed while maintaining a high level of supply security. Together with the Belgian electricity grid operator Elia (Brussels), we form the internationally active Elia Group. As a TSO, we take on a central moderating role in the realisation of the energy transition from a social, technical and economic perspective.

That makes this job interesting for you: As a member of the Elia Group Procurement Team, your tasks will range from the purchasing strategy definition to the signature of contracts. Typical electrical equipment are transformers, underground cables, overhead lines, and digital monitoring, control and protection systems. Contracts in this area reach values of up to several 100 million Euros.
My tasks:
- Work closely together with the technical and asset management departments of the Elia Group to gain an overview of the long-term requirements,
- Analyse the market and potential supplier worldwide, always with an eye on the current developments on the market and anticipating the requirements of the Elia Group,
- Based on the market analysis, work out the medium- to long-term procurement plan for strategic electrical equipment,
- Define and implement the strategies in coordination with the internal stakeholders,
- Take an active part in the implementation of the sustainable policies of the Group,
- Organize the EU procurement procedure from A (definition of selection and awarding criteria) to Z (negotiation and awarding of the contract),
- Based on your experience in EU procurement procedures, participate in the optimization of internal processes, methods and tools in procurement,
- Depending on your experience, take responsibility for a complete family of assets working autonomously with a global scope,
- Manage actively the supplier relationship, including risk management, evaluation, development, and execution of audits,
- Contribute to building synergies and best practices for both entities, Elia and 50Hertz.
- You have a Master's degree in technical or engineering studies, or you have an economics background with strong technical focus in form of relevant internships or prior professional experience,
- You have strong organizational skills, like work independently, take initiative and think in a problem-solving way,
- You are analytical and result driven,
- You are bilingual: German and English (both level B2 to C1),
- You have good communication skills,
- Willing to travel few times a year to Brussels.
Not a must, but advantageous:
- Experience in a technical context, procurement, or project management,
- Knowledge of SAP or Ariba,
- Knowledge of French and/or Dutch.
