Unit description

Large Projects Offshore is a key contributor to the energy transition. The Unit is responsible for the current and future development of the offshore grid as a whole and subsequently for the development and realization of the DC interconnectors and the Offshore Wind Farm grid connections in both the German and Dutch sectors of the North Sea.
TenneT is growing fast to realize its strategic ambitions. We play a leading role in driving the energy transition. We are looking for a passionate Construction Manager at our location/s Hanover and Batam, Indonesia who will contribute to this and that might be you?

As a Construction Manager you are responsible for the quality assurance during fabrication of the offshore converter station and contribute to success of the overall project execution. Therefore you are in close contact to the HVDC/platform project team (PL Offshore Platform, PL HVDC, all other SPLs, Technical Specialists, GFO-O personnel (e.g. OR, or GCC) and the HSE Manager). You will be reporting to the Lead Yard Management hierarchically, and to Lead HVDC/ Platform functionally and operationally.
  • You are responsible for the coordination of the site engineers and the local inspectors in an internationally located construction site. You and the site team are responsible for day-to-day quality assurance and site surveyance within the respective yard.
  • You are responsible for the on-site quality assurance by means that the offshore platform is fabricated meeting TenneT´s standards, policies and further applicable (local) regulations
  • You functionally lead a team of site inspectors, coordinate the QC personnel on a day to day basis and are part of the site leadership team to enable continuous improvement
  • You create transparency on the fabrication progress, risks and non-conformities by formal reporting and close communication with the Project Manager and Lead Yard Management
  • You support the Lead Yard Management in developing and implementing professional site management processes and tools
  • Contributing to the standardisation of project management approach and optimisation of synergies between several HVDC-systems and off-shore platforms

  • You have preferably an academical degree or other comparable training combined with many years of experience in a comparable role
  • You are a experienced construction manager with at least 5+ years working experience in managing site/ construction teams in and international environment, preferably in construction of complex infrastructure projects, HVDC or oil and gas platforms
  • You are dynamic, enthusiastic, intrinsically motivated without 'nine to five-mentality'
  • You are fluent in English, additional languages (e.g. Deutsch) of advantage
  • You are willing to work and live abroad in a yard location environment (Batam – Indonesia) for an extended period of time i.e project duration (4-5 years)
  • You are preferably IPMA D certified or open to obtain
