This position is located in the Software Verification and Release Management department. As part of the global Truck Technology/Software organization, this department is responsible for ensuring all software and electronics across Daimler Truck global platforms are delivered to our customers with the highest quality.

As our vehicles grow in capability, especially in the areas of Zero Emissions, Automated Technology, Energy Efficiency and Safety, our team is critical to the successful verification of an increasingly complex, safe and secure vehicle and powertrain controls network.

The HiL (Hardware in the loop) is a lab environment where all vehicle and powertrain electronic control units (ECUs) are connected as in an actual vehicle, and then integration tested with simulated vehicle and powertrain components.

We are responsible for supporting software and ECU developers, and feature and system owners with early and efficient verification for all of our global truck products and applications. To be successful in this role, you must bring a strong enthusiasm to problem solve and troubleshoot vehicle and powertrain software systems, HiL simulation models, and test platforms. You will also have a great learning opportunity in collaborating with our diverse regional and global engineering stakeholders.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

  • Design and maintain Hardware in the Loop (HiL) test environments for powertrain electronic control units (ECUs) and related software features and functions
  • Support and supervise test operations on HiL test platforms working with cross-functional stakeholders such as software developers; feature, system, and component owners; and test engineers
  • Adapt best practices, new methods, and tools to real time HiL based verification, HiL plant models, and test automation
  • Develop HiL strategies for ongoing and upcoming technologies and projects within our global company, and commercial vehicle industry
  • Drive knowledge sharing and commonality within our global organization and department for testing methodologies and HiL design
  • Maintain and report KPIs related to HiL testing and operations in the team
  • Prioritize assignments consistent with team and business goals and successfully complete deliverables on time and within budget
  • Proactively inform management of project issues, delays, and risks.

THAT'S WHY YOU ARE A MATCH

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in electrical engineering, computer science, electronics or mechatronics
  • German and English proficiency
  • Experience in automotive development
  • Sound basic knowledge of test processes and methods for quality assurance of software and electronic control units
  • Sound basic mathematical and electrical/electronics knowledge
  • Experience with Hardware in the Loop (HiL) test environments is desirable
  • Knowledge of the E/E architectures of vehicles, CAN communication, diagnosis, and electronic control unit (ECU) development is desirable
  • Knowledge of conventional and electric powertrain and components. Related simulation based development experience is desirable
  • Knowledge in the following areas is an advantage: real-time systems, modeling of physical behavior models, modeling in Simulink, programming (MATLAB, Python etc)
