To accomplish our mission, we are looking for a Junior Risk Manager (m/f/d) in Düsseldorf to join us at this exciting time in a newly formed Group Risk Management team. Reporting to the Director Risk Management, this role will support in all risk and control efforts across the StepStone Group (including Europe, UK, the Americas & Southern Africa).

The Risk / Internal Controls Manager will be responsible for supporting the Director Risk Management in designing and delivering the Risk Management & Internal Controls framework, as well as building a strong risk culture by embedding sound risk management practices throughout the StepStone Group. This will enable the business to achieve our objectives, protect our reputation and meet our corporate governance standards

  • Contribute to the development, evolution, alignment, and sustainment of risk management and internal control strategies across the StepStone Group.
  • Develop and maintain groupwide instruments and requirements in terms of Risk management System (RMS) and Internal Controls System (ICS)
  • Support and advise StepStone functions / entities in designing, documenting, implementing, and maintaining internal controls / risk management measures within relevant processes in order to secure an effective and efficiently build Risk Management and Internal Control System
  • Educate and work with the StepStone Executive Committee, country and operational boards and Senior Leadership teams to build and enhance risk management capabilities, processes and awareness.
  • Communicate regularly and inform about Risk Management and Internal Controls to gain transparency on the different levels of StepStone Group as well as report to the Board of Management
  • Execute Risk Management and Internal Controls Trainings for the relevant functions / entities of StepStone Group e.g., in terms of regulatory and specific RMS and ICS requirements
  • Instil organisation-wide awareness of the importance of risk and controls, through an effective RMS and ICS training programme.
  • Support key stakeholders with their understanding of industry processes and regulations.
  • Maintain and improve controls and measures
  • Maintain the GRC tool

  • Proven track record of managing risk management frameworks, including development of controls as part of a broad programme.
  • Educated to a degree level (master's) or equivalent. (preferably with focus on Business Administration, Accounting and Finance or comparable)
  • Detailed understanding of the most relevant value drivers and risks within StepStone Group
  • Comprehensive process know how in terms of financial reporting, and operational processes
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong focus on detail and analysis as well as the ability to identify and explain complex risk and control requirements and convey difficult messages to all stakeholders.
  • Ability to build credibility, influence at all levels, through to the Executive Board, and maintain productive, healthy relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Proactive, resourceful, detail-oriented self-starter with strong problem-solving.
  • Expert in MS Office (e.g. Excel - pivot tables, V-look ups, Word, PowerPoint) and/or G Suite (e.g. Gmail, Docs, Drive)
  • Comfortability operating in a fast-paced, high growth, rapidly evolving workplace
