Great! We are looking for an intern/trainee (m/f/d) to help with the Research and Development of new vaccine candidates based on viral vectors to shape Bavarian Nordics future vaccine products.

At our R&D site in Martinsried, Germany, you will have the opportunity to strengthen our small research team of highly motivated and dedicated scientists and technicians. Together, we study the biology of recombinant poxviruses to improve their production and use as vaccine vectors.

Founded in 1994, we have more than 25 years of experience in developing life-saving vaccines. We are a global leader in smallpox and mpox vaccines. Our commercial product portfolio contains market-leading vaccines against rabies and tick-borne encephalitis and an Ebola vaccine. Our vaccines make a real difference to people, and no matter your role we all contribute to protecting lives every day. This is how your work matters:

  • Support planning, execution, and analysis of virological and cell biological experiments
  • Generate and characterize novel recombinant virus vectors and cell lines including cloning, analyses of viral replication, gene expression, and gene function
  • Assist in the maintenance of our continuous cell cultures and the cell bank
  • Help in daily lab organization
  • Document according to industry standards

  • Master student of biology/biotechnology or related life sciences with relevant background knowledge
  • First experience in cell-based and molecular biology methods, including standard cell culture techniques
  • Commitment and motivation towards applied research
  • Enjoys methodical and self-reliant work in the laboratory
  • Interested in gaining in-depth practical experience in virology, cell biology, and molecular biology in the environment of a commercial organization
